Cities of the Plain (Signed Limited First Edition)
BY Cormac McCarthy
Book Information: 1/1/2/US/RH/1998/o.1,000 • 220x152x30 • 536
This is the limited signed first edition first printing copy of "Cities of the Plain" with first state dust jacket. The book and dust jacket are identical to the first edition in every way except that is additional tip in page stating "One Thousand Copies of This Signed First Edition of Cities of the Plain Have Been Specially Prepared For The Friends of the Author and Publisher", followed by Cormac McCarthy's holograph. McCarthy's signature is guaranteed to be almost surely genuine for these copies.
This copy I purchased came with additional provenance: A signed note, dated 15 May (presumably 1998), from McCarthy's editor at Alfred Knopf, Gary Fisketjon, with the following inscription: "Dear Si, I wanted you to have a signed copy of the third volume of Cormac's great trilogy Yours, [signature]." in his official stationery. A collector could not ask for more.
This book is somewhat rare and a VG copy can be purchased from eBay or Abebooks from $450 onwards. This is a pristine copy.
