Letting Go
BY Philip Roth
Book Information: 1/1/0/US/RH/1962/? • 220x160x32 • 852
This is Philip Roth's first novel published in 1962 by Random House after the acclaimed short story collection "Goodbye, Columbus". Based on corroboration from Abebooks listing, I believe this is the first edition first printing with first state dust jacket that, although price clipped, should show $5.95. The book is bound in blue cloth board over black cloth spine with gold lettering, and has pink topstain . The copyright page should read "First Printing".
This book is not particularly rare on Abebooks and, apart from being Roth's first novel, is probably one of his lesser work. This copy is a VG one with a VG- dust jacket due to chippings at spine edges and price clipping, compensated by a VG+ book that would be NF if not for the owner's inscription on the FFEP. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, beware of those "signed" copies, especially those signed on bookplates - forged signatures abound, with those on bookplates especially treacherous, and the sellers usually have no credible way of substantiating the authenticity of a signature. Some provide meaningless "lifetime guarantee" or "certificate of authenticity".
